State road crews plan to close one lane of Washington Street and block Ninth Street at the intersection in downtown Shelbyville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, to repair the pavement base.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says crews will close the right lane of Washington Street, which carries U.S. 60, near Ninth Street. Ninth Street will also close at Washington. Drivers who normally use Ninth Street can detour via Eighth or Tenth Street.

The work is separate from the Main Street bridge replacement over Clear Creek. The Washington Street bridge is carrying traffic in both directions while the Main Street bridge is closed. KYTC expects the new Main Street bridge to open to traffic Dec. 18.

Weather or other delays could change Monday’s work schedule.
