Friends and neighbors will have two chances next week to remember John and Michelle Peterson of Simpsonville, who died November 3 in a plane crash in Missouri.
Shannon Funeral Service has scheduled visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, at the funeral home, 1124 Main Street in Shelbyville. A prayer vigil will begin there at 7:30 p.m.
A memorial Mass for both will be held at noon Thursday, November 12, at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation, 105 Main Street in Shelbyville. The Petersons were members of the parish. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery, according to the funeral home.
John, 52, started flying at 16, before he had a driver’s license, and went on to fly for UPS. He also played in the Kentuckiana Baseball Association, including with the Louisville Sluggers and the Louisville Grays.
Michelle, 51, worked as a nurse practitioner at Norton Immediate Care and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in Shelbyville. She raced sailboats on the Ohio River and belonged to the Derby City Sailing Club.
The couple are survived by their two children. The funeral home says expressions of sympathy may be made to the Church of the Annunciation.
