Shelby County Public Schools announced on Oct. 21 that it had broken ground on an Agriculture Academy, a project intended to bring hands-on agronomy and animal-science instruction to local students.

The district described the academy as the result of more than three decades of planning for the farmland. Its district announcement included a rendering of the proposed building and a video introducing the project.

The rendering identifies Farm Credit Mid-America as a sponsor. It shows the planned academy building, with classroom and agricultural work spaces represented in the exterior design.
