Shelby County Public Schools reported three consecutive years of reading growth and a higher four-year graduation rate in its Oct. 19 summary of Kentucky Summative Assessment results for 2025–26.

The district announcement said its elementary, middle and high school students received green ratings in reading and mathematics. Green is the second-highest rating in the state’s system.

The district reported that its elementary reading measure rose from 39 to 46 over three years, compared with a state increase from 47 to 50. Middle school reading rose from 35 to 42, while the state moved from 45 to 48. High school reading increased from 33 to 43, compared with 45 to 49 statewide.

Those gains narrowed the reading gaps, but Shelby’s reported measures remained below the state’s at all three levels. The district also reported that its four-year graduation rate increased from 87.8% to 92.5% in one year.
