The KY 55X/KY 43 intersection improvement project is substantially complete, with final work still underway, according to KYTC's advisory for the week of October 25.
Drivers may still encounter lane closures while crews finish remaining items. The advisory doesn't identify particular closure hours or give a final acceptance date.
The project includes an upgraded traffic signal, right-turn lanes on each approach and dedicated left-turn lanes for northbound and southbound KY 55X. KYTC's project page says the work was intended to address unexpected stops and the risk of rear-end collisions at an intersection that lacked dedicated turn lanes.
Construction began in March. An older project-page schedule called for completion in summer 2026, while the October advisory describes the remaining work. The newer notice is the useful guide to current traffic conditions; neither document supplies a measured before-and-after crash result.
