Kentucky's Transportation Cabinet continues to list fall 2027 as the expected finish for Shelby County's $118 million I-64 widening and improvement project. A ramp reopening or a finished bridge is one stage of that larger job.

The project includes widening roughly six miles from four lanes to six, bridge work and reconstruction of the KY 53/Mt. Eden Road interchange. The state's overview says the finished corridor will have three lanes in each direction between Clark Station Road and KY 395/Waddy Road.

A recent traffic notice scheduled the Exit 35 eastbound off-ramp to close October 23-26 so crews could connect a newly reconstructed ramp to the pavement. Those dates have passed; that notice should not be repeated as an October 29 closure or treated as proof that the entire interchange is finished.

KYTC's overview also contains differing descriptions of Hooper Station Road's bridge status in separate sections. Until the agency reconciles those entries, a firm current bridge-opening claim would go beyond the record.

Before a trip, use the project's traffic-impact page for dated restrictions and check Kentucky's traffic service for current conditions. Work-zone signs and any newly issued closure notice matter more than an older phase description.
