Shelbyville City Council is scheduled to consider extending its temporary pause on data-center applications when it meets Thursday, November 5, at 5:30 p.m.

The meeting agenda lists a first reading of an ordinance amending the moratorium the council adopted in August. It covers applications for data centers and similar large information-technology facilities within the city’s jurisdiction.

The proposed ordinance would extend the moratorium’s term, according to its title on the agenda. The agenda does not say how long the extension would last.

Council members unanimously approved the original moratorium August 20. It paused the acceptance, processing, review and approval of applications, according to the minutes of that meeting.

Thursday’s agenda places the extension before the council for a first reading; it does not record an adopted extension. The proposal is identified as Ordinance No. 2026-11-19.

The council meets in the lower-level council chamber at City Hall, 315 Washington Street. The public-comment portion of Thursday’s agenda allows individuals up to three minutes and group spokespersons up to five minutes.

Other business includes a second reading of a supplement to the city’s code of ordinances, an order authorizing the sale of surplus property and proposed amendments to the employee handbook.
