Simpsonville recorded three police leadership oaths between August and October, with David Aikins becoming chief and Joseph Massey and Joshua Risinger sworn in as sergeants.
Aikins took the chief's oath at the August 18 city meeting, according to both the commission minutes and the city's news page. The city posted its notice September 14; that posting date is later than the oath itself.
Massey was sworn in at the October 6 meeting. Risinger took his oath October 20, becoming the second sergeant described in the city's notices.
The notices establish the leadership changes, rather than a larger claim about department staffing. They don't provide the number of filled patrol positions, vacancies, response times or the new team's priorities.
